Can anyone help me to identify this wooden artifact?

I have inherited this wooden stein from my grandmother when she passed...I can remember seeing it in her house as far back as 30 years or better. I have done some searching online but have not yet been able to find anything even remotely close to a match. The stein is made of solid wood, right down to the wooden pegs that attach the handle to the base of the stein. There is a raised image of a knight in armor with a shield that has a few lines running diagonally, 2 raised, 3 sunken. I would like to know more about the history of this piece and the value that it holds today.
